Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how GPS Location & Phone Tracker ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our Android application (package com.locmate.gpstracker.locationfinder). The App is a consent-based location-sharing tool designed for families, friends, and trusted contacts. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Process Directly

Location data

Location is the core of the App. With your permission, we access your device's precise (GPS) and/or approximate (network-based) location to display your position on the map and to share it with the trusted contacts you have authorized. Location is processed only while location sharing is enabled. You may revoke location permission or disable sharing at any time through the App or your device settings.

Permissions the App requests

• Precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — to determine and share your accurate position on the map.
• Approximate location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) — a fallback when precise location is unavailable or not granted.
• Background location (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION) — only if you enable continuous sharing so trusted contacts can see updates while the App is not in the foreground. This is optional and requires your explicit consent.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to deliver safe-zone and location-related alerts.
• Internet & network state — to sync shared locations and load the map.
• Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — used by our advertising and analytics SDKs to deliver and measure ads. Required to declare on Android 13+.

Shared-group and contact data

To connect you with trusted contacts, the App may process a group or invite identifier, a display name or label you choose, and the location updates exchanged within your group. We only share your location with members you have authorized.

Saved locations & preferences

Places you save and your in-app preferences (such as safe zones and sharing settings) are stored to provide the App's features.

Device & diagnostic data

We and our SDKs may process technical data such as device model, operating-system version, language, country, app version, app-instance identifiers, and crash or diagnostic logs to keep the App working and to improve reliability.

Support communications

If you email us, we receive your message and email address to respond to your request.

2. Third-Party SDKs We Use

The App is free and includes the following third-party software development kits (SDKs). Each operator processes data under its own privacy policy:

Google Firebase (Google LLC)

Used for analytics, crash reporting, cloud messaging (push notifications), and remote configuration. Data processed includes app-instance ID, device model, OS version, language, country, anonymized in-app events, and crash stack traces. Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Google AdMob (Google LLC)

Used to display ads that keep the App free. Data processed includes your Google Advertising ID, coarse IP-derived location, and ad-interaction events. Whether ads are personalized depends on your consent choice (see below). Privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Adjust (Adjust GmbH, an AppLovin company)

Used for install attribution and fraud prevention. Data processed includes your advertising ID, a hashed device fingerprint, install timestamp, and conversion events. Privacy policy: adjust.com/terms/privacy-policy.

Meta (Facebook) SDK (Meta Platforms, Inc.)

Used for advertising attribution and measurement. Data processed includes your advertising ID and install/open and conversion events. It is not used for Facebook login or to access your social profile. Privacy policy: facebook.com/about/privacy.

Your choices regarding these SDKs

• Ad consent: Where required (e.g. EEA, UK), we show a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent prompt. You can choose non-personalized ads or withdraw consent later in the App.
• Reset or limit your advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → reset or delete your advertising ID.
• Revoke location: Android Settings → Apps → GPS Location & Phone Tracker → Permissions.
• Email us at devapp.aero@gmail.com to request access or deletion.

3. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not read your SMS messages.
• We do not access your contacts list without a permission you grant.
• We do not access your camera or microphone.
• We do not collect payment-card data — the App is free and has no in-app purchases.
• We do not sell or rent your personal data to data brokers.
• We do not use the App for covert monitoring, stalking, or surveillance of anyone without their knowledge and consent.

4. How We Use Information

• To display your location and shared contacts' locations on the map.
• To deliver safe-zone and location-related notifications you enable.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the App's reliability and performance.
• To display and measure ads that keep the App free.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
• To respond to your support requests and comply with legal obligations.

5. Sharing & Third Parties

We share information only as follows:

• Trusted contacts you choose — your location is shared with the group members you authorize, while sharing is enabled.
• Google — Play distribution, Firebase services, and AdMob advertising.
• Adjust — install attribution and fraud prevention.
• Meta — advertising attribution and measurement.
• Legal compliance — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Data Retention

• Live location updates are transient and are retained only as needed to deliver current sharing; we do not maintain a long-term history of your movements on our side beyond what the feature requires.
• Firebase Analytics data: up to 14 months (Google default).
• Firebase Crashlytics records: up to 90 days.
• Adjust data: up to 24 months.
• Meta SDK data: approximately 2 years.
• AdMob data: per Google's ad-platform defaults.
• Support emails: up to 24 months.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise these rights — and opt out of personalized advertising via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads — at any time. To make a request, email devapp.aero@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The third-party SDKs we use are not configured for child-directed treatment. Where a family uses the App to share locations among members, an adult is responsible for any minor's participation and consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

Your information may be processed in the United States, the European Union, and other countries where we or our SDK providers operate. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Security

We rely on Android's app sandbox, scoped storage, and the Android Keystore, and use encrypted HTTPS connections to our SDK and service endpoints. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable safeguards.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app and/or via the Google Play release notes, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
